The English rose 'The Ancient Mariner' was bred by David Austin and was named in honor of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's epic poem. But unlike the mariner in the story, this glowing pink rose does not foretell bad luck. In fact, pink roses convey affection, thoughtfulness, gratitude and thanks. Pink roses remain one of the most popular colors sent on Valentine's Day.
